ESN Savo runs the orientation, the trips and the nights out for the international students who arrive at UEF and Savonia every August and January. Volunteers do all of it, most of us were the new person here not long ago, and you do not need to know anyone to turn up.
The first weeks decide the whole semester.
Arriving somewhere new is mostly logistics and loneliness. We take the loneliness part off your hands, and help with a good deal of the logistics too.
Meeting people
Sitsit dinners, sauna evenings, city walks and weekly hangouts. Come alone the first time — everyone else did.
Getting out of the city
Group trips across Finland and the Nordics at prices that work on a student budget, organised so you only have to show up.
Working out how Finland works
Housing, the bank account, the bus card, what to wear when it hits minus twenty. Ask us anything; we have all been confused by the same things.
