Questions we get every semester
Do I have to be an Erasmus student?
No. Everything we run is open to any international student in Kuopio — exchange, degree, doctoral, and whoever they bring along. Finnish students are welcome too, and a good number come.
Does it cost anything?
Most events are free. Trips and sitsit have a ticket because they cost us money — transport, food, a venue — and we price them at what they cost, not above.
I do not know anyone. Is that awkward?
It is the normal way to arrive. Most people come to their first event alone, and the events are built so that nobody stays alone for long — seated dinners, group activities, and volunteers whose actual job is to talk to whoever is standing by themselves.
Do I need to speak Finnish?
No. Everything runs in English. You will pick up about nine words of Finnish at your first sitsit, most of them shouted.
How do I find out about events?
Instagram first, this site shortly after. If you want nothing else, follow @esn_savo — that alone is enough to never miss anything.
